ABOUT
Born in Mexico City (1993) now residing in-between Mexico and Vancouver, Canada where I am in the process of finishing my photography BFA at Emily Carr University.
I am currently in a constant struggle between ideas of what photography's role plays in my life, challenging the notions and beliefs of "inmortality" through an image and the power of an image to make poeple question their own ideas when it comes to this human existence.
My work is centred on the experience of the human being, on the search of identity and history through absences, memories and an imagined parallel universe. I also address femicides within Latin America and how it relates to my locality.
I work with digital and analogue photography as well as print media.
Analogue photography allows me to explore photography in a more humane way, allowing "mistakes" to be embraced such as a light leaks in the camera or forgetting film in a jacket and putting it in the washer creating amazing effects on the emulsion. The whole process from putting the film in the camera, developing, scanning or printing with the enlarger gives so much room for turning what is a usually a mechanical procedure to become tactile and interactive, leaving a trace of human intervention.
